It’s certainly been a while since our last update. Clara had a wonderful Valentine’s Day and just got through celebrating Easter with the family.
Clara handled the Easter bunny pretty well, but did not like it when he picked up her Elmo. She had a great time with her cousins, Aubin and Ava, on an Easter Egg Hunt, and later took a long nap from all the fun!
Have you ever seen the Volvo commercial where the dad is picking his daughter up from school and she’s rambling on about her day, and never stops talking? Well that’s what Clara seems like she’s going to be like. It’s amazing how fast these kids pick up these words and start talking. Clara has had added about 10 new words in the past couple of weeks bringing her vocabulary to around 30, and can say part of the alphabet (A-F anyway). Her funniest word is Vodka and she knows just where it is in the house. *Note to self: lock that up before she reaches her teen years.
Clara is still eating like a horse, and it’s not unusual for her to have 3 eggs, a pancake, and a piece of bacon for breakfast. The last few Saturdays, she’s been able to go to McDonald’s with her “Grandy” and has just had a blast.
Clara is still very tall, and was in the 90th percentile for height at her 15 month check up but only running 50th percentile for weight.
Clara has made a friend, Julien, through her Kindermusik class and they play at the park every Wednesday after class. As always, you can see all our pictures in the Photo Galleries.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be adding a recipe section (yum!) to the website and the ability to sign up to receive an email when the site is updated.
Y’all have a great spring!

Happy New Year! It has been a while since our last entry. Clara had a wonderful Christmas with family both in Ohio and Texas.
She took her first airplane ride and did pretty well. She really wanted to get down and run around in the plane.
Clara’s new nanny is wonderful and very interactive with her. Clara has started to paint and draw with crayons, but I think her first love is to dance around the house to music (think Flashdance, “Maniac” song and running in place). We have moved to solid foods completely and there really is not much that Clara won’t eat. The exception seems to be peas here lately. She loves to watch her Daddy cook and stirs her Cheerios in a pot like an expert chef. Guacamole appears to be a favorite.
Clara’s teeth are coming in quickly now and she has 4 out and 2 that are very close. It is amazing how quickly they pop out. Clara seems to handle it pretty well, she just chews on everything lately.
Wes and I are going to be taking Clara for her first haircut this weekend, so we will let you know how that goes. I am thinking it is going to be similar to trying to bathe a cat.
We hope you all are having a wonderful 2008 so far, and stay tuned for more updates!

Well, it’s hard to believe but Clara will be 1 years old tomorrow. She celebrated her birthday yesterday with all of her friends and had a grand old time. We are so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family.
Clara continues to surprise us each day with new words. I just left home at lunch, and she’s working on the word “balloon”. Clara also finally had a third tooth break through.
Clara is excited about Christmas and Santa, whom she’ll get to meet this weekend. I’m not sure she’ll be asking for anything, but I’m pretty sure she’ll try to “de-beard” dear old Santa.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hello Friends and Family!
We ended the month of October on a high note with Clara participating in her first Halloween. Clara was a ladybug this year and she liked her costume and did not mind the wings. She had a great time at the Hackberry Creek Neighborhood festival where she rode on a train and ate some pizza and barbecue. To top off the evening she went to a couple of houses to trick or treat and seemed more interested in going into the person’s house versus getting treats.

Clara continues to walk like a champ and now wants walk everywhere without any assistance. We have an independent little girl on our hands. She has increased her vocabulary to include “Pop”, “Bye Bye” “Yeah” and we think “that” as she points to everything.
We are looking forward to her 1st birthday party next month.
Take care and stay tuned!

WOW! I can’t believe Clara has been walking for more than a month. She started off slow, but gave up crawling completely about 3 weeks ago. Since then, she is walking and starting to run everywhere. She can walk and carry large toys and clap… and it scares Erica and me to death, but a few head injuries are just a fact of life with a little one walking.

Clara and her friend Courenea, spent the day today at the Texas State Fair. While she didn’t get to enjoy much of the junk food because of her peanut allergy, she did get to see all sorts of neat animals, puppet shows and watch the fun and colorful rides. It was a beautiful day and they had so much fun that they skipped their afternoon naps.
Clara is doing so well and is getting ready for Halloween! She can’t wait to put on her lady bug costume!
Y’all take care!

Clara with Uncle Steve and the longview bunch
The summer may be winding down, but Clara is gearing up. She continues to crawl at lightening speed, is walking holding onto the table, and this evening took 2 steps by herself not touching anything!!! She has also added waving “Hi” and clapping to her list of activities. We have moved her down to the lowest notch on the crib when we noticed she was trying to bounce herself out. So in a nutshell, Clara is on the move!
Clara also go to hang out with her buddies, Hayden, Garret and Zach Walker, Caroline Jackson, and Caroline Price for a dinner party at the house and had a lot of fun playing with everyone.
Her 9 month check up at the beginning of September, so we will let you know all the new stats and her first football game (Baylor vs TCU) is September 1st (SIC EM BEARS!), so be on the lookout for pictures.

Happy 4th of July from the Wakefield Family!
Clara started her day out attending our neighborhood’s 4th of July Parade. Clara got to see a fire engine for the first time, and waved her flag in support of our troops around the world.

After a big lunch and a long nap, we all went over to Neely and Curtis’ house and enjoyed some great food and good friends. Clara made friends with Corbin, Darcy and David’s new little one (although, he’s almost a year old). Clara went crazy and tried to chase him everywhere he went. Clara had a big supper, but never made it into the pool. Surprisingly, it didn’t rain, which is kind of a first for a day this summer.
Eventually, the kids were all played out and we came home and ended a great first 4th of July for our “Clara Bear”.
